Terms of Service

Last Updated July 20265 min read

These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your access to and use of Boundless: the website, applications, and services (together, the "Platform") that let people discover, run, and participate in hackathons, bounties, grants, and crowdfunding campaigns.

By creating an account or using the Platform, you agree to these Terms, our Privacy Policy, and our Risk Disclosure. If you do not agree, do not use the Platform.

Eligibility and accounts

You must be at least 18 years old, or the age of majority where you live, to use the Platform. You are responsible for your account credentials and for everything that happens under your account. Keep your sign-in details secure and notify us immediately at support@boundlessfi.xyz if you suspect unauthorized access.

You agree to provide accurate information when you register and to keep it up to date. We may suspend or close accounts that provide false information, impersonate others, or evade previous suspensions.

Organizations and teams

Users can create organizations to run programs on the Platform. Whoever creates an organization becomes its owner and may invite members with different roles. Organization owners and admins are responsible for the actions taken through their organization, including programs they publish, funds they manage, and invitations they send.

Accepting an invitation to an organization gives its owners and admins visibility into your activity within that organization. You may leave an organization at any time.

Hackathons, bounties, grants, and campaigns

Organizers define the rules, timelines, judging criteria, and rewards for the programs they run. Boundless provides the infrastructure but is not a party to the relationship between organizers and participants unless we expressly say otherwise for a specific program.

  • Organizers must run programs fairly, as described in the program rules they publish, and fund the rewards they advertise.
  • Participants must submit their own original work and comply with each program’s rules.
  • Judging decisions are made by organizers and their judges. Boundless does not re-judge outcomes.
  • Winners may be required to complete identity verification before receiving a payout.

Wallets and payments

The Platform provisions managed Stellar wallets for users and organizations. Managed wallets are platform-custodied: Boundless holds the keys, sponsors the on-chain account reserves, and signs transactions on your instruction through the Platform. Rewards and program funds are typically denominated in USDC on the Stellar network.

Some flows also let you use an external wallet that you control. You are solely responsible for external wallets, including their keys, reserves, and trustlines. Blockchain transactions are irreversible; we cannot recover funds sent to the wrong address.

Identity verification

Certain actions, such as receiving payouts or withdrawing funds, require identity verification through our verification provider. If you do not complete verification, or verification fails, those actions remain unavailable. We may also require additional verification where the law demands it.

Prizes, payouts, and taxes

Payouts on the Platform are generally pull-based: after winners are announced, an awarded amount becomes claimable rather than being pushed automatically. An award that is "awaiting claim" is not yet paid. You are responsible for claiming awards and for any taxes that apply to amounts you receive through the Platform.

Crowdfunding campaigns

Contributions to crowdfunding campaigns are not investments, loans, or purchases of securities, and they carry a real risk of total loss. Campaign creators are responsible for delivering what they promise; Boundless does not guarantee any campaign outcome. Read the Risk Disclosure before contributing.

Your content and conduct

You keep ownership of the content you post: profiles, submissions, project descriptions, and comments. You grant Boundless a worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free license to host, display, and distribute that content as needed to operate the Platform.

  • Do not post content that is unlawful, infringing, deceptive, or harmful.
  • Do not attempt to manipulate judging, rig payouts, or exploit other users.
  • Do not probe, scan, or attack the Platform, or use it to distribute malware.
  • Do not use the Platform to launder money or evade sanctions.

Intellectual property

The Platform, including its software, design, and branding, belongs to Boundless and its licensors. These Terms do not grant you any right to use the Boundless name or marks except as permitted by our published brand kit.

Fees

Where the Platform charges fees, they are disclosed at the point of use before you commit. Network-level costs (such as on-chain reserves for managed wallets) may be sponsored by the Platform; we may change what is sponsored with reasonable notice.

Third-party services

The Platform depends on third parties we do not control, including the Stellar network, stablecoin issuers, identity-verification providers, and email and hosting infrastructure. Their availability and terms affect the Platform, and we are not responsible for their acts or omissions.

Disclaimers

The Platform is provided "as is" and "as available", without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement. We do not warrant that the Platform will be uninterrupted, error-free, or secure, or that any program, campaign, or payout will complete as expected.

Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, Boundless and its affiliates will not be liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or for lost profits, lost data, or loss of digital assets arising from your use of the Platform. Our total liability for claims relating to the Platform is limited to the greater of the fees you paid us in the twelve months before the claim and one hundred US dollars.

Indemnification

You agree to indemnify and hold Boundless harmless from claims arising out of your content, your programs, your breach of these Terms, or your violation of law or the rights of others.

Suspension and termination

We may suspend or terminate access to the Platform, or to specific features, where we reasonably believe these Terms have been breached, where the law requires it, or to protect users or the Platform. Where practical we will give notice. Sections that by their nature should survive termination, including ownership, disclaimers, and limitation of liability, survive.

Governing law and disputes

These Terms are governed by the laws of the jurisdiction in which the Boundless operating entity is established, without regard to conflict-of-laws rules. Before filing a claim, contact us at support@boundlessfi.xyz. Most concerns can be resolved quickly and informally.

Changes to these Terms

We may update these Terms as the Platform evolves. For material changes we will give notice, for example in-app or by email, before the changes take effect. Continuing to use the Platform after changes take effect means you accept them.
